Preparations for the Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism Exhibition (MAHA) 2026 reached approximately 80 percent completion in mid-August. Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu indicated that infrastructure work was in its final stages at the Malaysia Agriculture Expo Park Serdang (MAEPS), with a focus on the theme ‘Creating Value for Food Security’. The event aimed to attract four million visitors and target RM58 million in cash sales alongside RM8 billion in potential investments.

The exhibition officially commenced at the Malaysia Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI) in Serdang, running until September 6. Early attendance saw an initial 140,000 people, with organizers introducing the ‘Rhythm of the Farmers’ entertainment program to enhance the visitor experience. Due to haze and hot weather, Minister Mohamad Sabu advised visitors to wear face masks.

By the conclusion of the event, MAHA 2026 recorded Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) values totaling RM12.6 billion, significantly exceeding the initial RM8 billion target. Minister Mohamad Sabu noted this achievement reflects high investor confidence in Malaysia’s agrifood industry. Major contributors included RM4 billion in investment commitments from China and a RM1.5 billion agreement involving the National Farmers Organization (NAFAS), Guizhou Phosphate Chemical (GPC) Group, and Jiangsu Chemical Design Institute Co Ltd (CDIJS) to develop an integrated fertilizer industry.

Other significant agreements focused on expanding the market for premium Malaysian fresh durians in China. The exhibition ultimately attracted 3.45 million visitors and generated sales exceeding RM55 million, nearing the original RM58 million target.
