Municipalities across Maine are preparing for the November 3 elections, which include races for local, state, and county positions. In Houlton, candidates are running for town council seats, with incumbent Councilor John ‘J. J.’ Schools focusing on easing the property tax burden. Other regional preparations include town council and school board elections in Cape Elizabeth, state house and senate races in Kittery and Falmouth, and a Cumberland County Commissioner race in North Yarmouth.

In Portland, the election season has also prompted local community reactions, such as criticism directed at a local sandwich shop for using political-themed signs as a marketing tool.
