Maira Rocha, founder of the Casa de Caridade Inácio Daniel in Águas Claras, Brasília, is under investigation by the Civil Police of the Federal District (PCDF) for allegedly forging psychographed letters.

Victims report that after providing sensitive personal data, they would wait between 21 and 68 days to receive letters presented as messages from deceased relatives. Complainants allege that this delay allowed for the collection of information from social media, judicial processes, and other public sources to craft the messages. Some victims noted that the letters contained text identical to old Facebook or Instagram posts, or included errors such as incorrect kinship, non-existent names, and incompatible biographical references.

In one reported instance, a medium claimed a deceased child’s spirit requested a R$ 300,000 donation to the center. The Brazilian Spiritist Federation (FEB) has advised the public to be cautious of mediums requesting donations, emphasizing that spiritual work should be free of charge.
