The Maluku High Prosecutor's Office has detained the former Head of the Maluku Provincial Public Works and Spatial Planning Office, identified by the initials MM, in connection with a corruption case. 

The investigation concerns the development of clean water infrastructure on Haruku Island during the 2020 fiscal year. Prosecutors allege that MM, acting as the Budget User, failed to verify the accuracy of payment documents and directed officials to process disbursements that did not match the actual physical progress of the work. Additionally, he is accused of failing to properly plan procurement or implement measures to prevent budget leaks.

An audit by the BPKP Maluku Representative Office estimated state financial losses at approximately Rp3.83 billion. MM was detained at the Ambon Class IIA Detention Center following his designation as a suspect on August 31, 2026.
