Manchester United Women are undergoing a tactical transition under manager Eva Olid, moving toward a high-possession, attacking style that emphasizes playing out from the back and assertive ball distribution. While this shift initially saw low possession averages, the team recently secured a 10-0 victory in the Players’ Cup against Durham. In addition to tactical changes, the club is managing player availability and international selections. Players Maya Le Tissier and Jess Park received call-ups to the England squad for 2027 World Cup playoff fixtures, while Ella Toone was omitted. Manager Olid noted that the club maintains “honest conversations” with players regarding such national team selections. As the team prepares for a fixture against Liverpool, Olid highlighted the successful integration of academy players and the challenges posed by a tight match schedule, despite some ongoing long-term injury concerns. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-03: Eva Olid prepares Manchester United Women for Liverpool match Manchester United Women manager Eva Olid prepares for a clash with Liverpool, highlighting squad fitness, the integration of academy players, and new tactical expectations for goalkeepers. 8 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/eva-olid-prepares-manchester-united-women-for-liverpool-match ### 2026-09-29: Manchester United Women see international call-ups amid tactical shifts Manchester United Women players Maya Le Tissier and Jess Park have been called up to the England squad, amid a period of tactical restructuring under Eva Olid. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/manchester-united-women-see-international-call-ups-amid-tactical-shifts --- Cite as: Manchester United Women tactical and squad developments.
