The showcase highlights the work of the Canarian painter, known for his experimentation with materials like burlap, ropes, and stains, as well as his contributions to poetry and thought. Curated by Alfonso de la Torre in collaboration with the Millares-Escobio family, the exhibition traces Millares' artistic evolution from Spanish informalism to his later use of photography and objects. Notable inclusions are the ‘Artefactos y Objetos’ installations and the ‘Serie Mussolini’, which critiques European authoritarianism. The exhibition also features personal documents and photographs regarding his relationship with Elvireta Escobio. Minister of Education, Culture, and Sports Amador Pastor noted the exhibition amidst rising interest in the cultural heritage of Castilla-La Mancha, reporting significant visitor numbers for museums in Cuenca. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-09: Manolo Millares exhibition opens at Fundación Antonio Pérez The Fundación Antonio Pérez in Cuenca is hosting ‘Manolo Millares, rebelde’, an exhibition commemorating the centenary of the painter's birth and exploring his subversive artistic legacy. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/manolo-millares-exhibition-opens-at-fundacin-antonio-prez ### 2026-10-02: Manolo Millares exhibition opens in Cuenca to mark centenary The ‘Manolo Millares, rebelde’ exhibition has opened in Cuenca to mark the centenary of the Spanish artist's birth, showcasing his unique use of materials, poetry, and writing. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/manolo-millares-exhibition-opens-in-cuenca-to-mark-centenary --- Cite as: Manolo Millares centenary exhibition in Cuenca.
