The Manufacturing Institute has introduced the AI Skills for Manufacturing Training Suite, a collection of free, self-paced online courses. Supported by $10 million from Google.org, the initiative seeks to train 40,000 manufacturing workers over the next two years to address digital transformation and automation needs.

In Alabama, the program is being delivered through a partnership with the Alabama Community College System, involving Calhoun Community College and 23 other state institutions. The training focuses on utilizing AI for troubleshooting, information access, and quality improvement. This launch follows reports indicating a significant skills gap, where 82% of manufacturers noted employees lack the necessary skills to use AI tools effectively.
