RB Leipzig moved to secure the permanent transfer of 20-year-old Spanish striker Marc Guiu from Chelsea. Initial reports indicated that a full agreement was nearing completion with a base transfer fee expected to be under €20 million and a sell-on clause for Chelsea.

By late August, the transfer was finalized. Guiu signed a five-year contract, which is reported to keep him at the Red Bull Arena until June 2030, wearing the number 9 shirt. The total fee is approximately €17 million, including achievable bonuses. As part of the deal, Chelsea retained a sell-on clause for any future sale by Leipzig.

Due to Guiu’s training at La Masia between the ages of seven and 18, FC Barcelona is set to receive a solidarity payment of approximately €425,000. Guiu joins Leipzig following two seasons in London, where he made 29 appearances and scored eight goals. His arrival follows the departure of Conrad Harder, who has been loaned to the French side Strasbourg for the season.
