Former Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa has conducted a series of educational initiatives in Portuguese schools focused on history, communication, and vocation. In Tabuaço, at the Agrupamento de Escolas Abel Botelho, he led a session titled ‘Education, Vocation, Future’. This event involved students reviewing the Diaries of the Constituent Assembly to connect the memory of Portugal’s 1976 democratic construction with younger generations. During this visit, he also signed the municipality’s Book of Honor. In Almodôvar, at the Escola Básica e Secundária Dr. João de Brito Camacho, the focus shifted to the evolution of communication through a session titled ‘From stone to screen: how we read, write and communicate?’. This part of the ‘Reading is in Fashion?’ cycle, held in partnership with the School Library Network (RBE), explored the relationship between the historical ‘Southwest Writing’ heritage and modern communication and included visits to the Southwest Writing Museum (MESA). ## Timeline ### 2026-10-12: Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa conducts educational sessions in Portuguese schools Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa visited schools in Tabuaço and Almodôvar to lead discussions on education, communication, and the importance of reading and historical heritage with students. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/marcelo-rebelo-de-sousa-conducts-educational-sessions-in-portuguese-schools ### 2026-09-29: Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa visits school in Tabuaço Former Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa visited Tabuaço to host an educational session for students and discuss the history of the Portuguese Constitution. 14 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/school-selection-criteria-evaluating-pedagogy-and-routine --- Cite as: Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa educational school visits.
