Actor Marco Paolini has launched his production ‘Bestiario idrico’ as part of the 2026/2027 theatrical season in Italy. The performance, created with Giulio Boccaletti and directed by the Dalla Via brothers, debuted at the Teatro Comunale Claudio Abbado in Ferrara.

The production examines the relationship between human-made hydraulic systems—including dams, canals, and embankments—and the natural landscape. It addresses the social and biological life of rivers while exploring how climate change may necessitate a rethinking of water management in regions such as Veneto, Friuli, and Emilia-Romagna.

Following the Ferrara debut, the production is scheduled to inaugurate the season at the Maggiore di Verbania on October 17. This venue has adopted a vision of itself as an ‘aqueduct of knowledge’ through this engagement with Italy’s hydraulic landscape.
