Former Olympic ski champion Maria Riesch has publicly addressed her decision to remain childless. She explained that while she once intended to start a family after her 2014 retirement, the desire did not materialize as she transitioned into a life focused on personal freedom and independence.

Riesch described social inquiries regarding her reproductive choices as “almost insolent.” She clarified that her situation is a conscious choice rather than a struggle with infertility, emphasizing her commitment to her relationship with partner Johann Schrempf.
