Marine Tondelier, leader of the Les Écologistes party and a candidate for the French presidency, announced the birth of her second son, Léon, on September 18. Tondelier, who is the first presidential candidate in France to campaign while pregnant, stated that the delivery went “very well” but noted she would need to “work differently” to balance her campaign with her newborn. She intends to use her platform to advocate for reproductive health and parental leave policies.

Following the birth, Tondelier made her first public appearance by participating in a climate march in Arras alongside her eight-day-old son. While attending the event, she clarified that she is participating as an activist rather than returning to full-time campaigning. During the march, she criticized the administration of Emmanuel Macron and emphasized the need to address women’s issues in politics, including postpartum care and breastfeeding.
