Prosecutors successfully argued that Saldana helped orchestrate and fund a murder-for-hire scheme stemming from a high-conflict custody dispute between Bridegan and his ex-wife, Shanna Gardner. The ambush occurred in the ‘Sanctuary’ residential area after Bridegan stopped to remove a tire placed in the road. During the attack, Bridegan’s two-year-old daughter was in the backseat but was uninjured.

Key evidence included surveillance footage of a truck near the scene and three checks totaling $10,000 paid to Henry Tenon—the alleged gunman and a former tenant of Saldana—which were marked as payments for ‘handyman work.’ Investigators also found Tenon’s DNA on the tire left in the road. Although the murder weapon was never recovered, the jury reached a verdict after nearly four hours of deliberation.
