Investigators allege the suspects sedated Soni with milk before killing him with an iron pestle or stone. The suspects allegedly transported the body to a forest near Akrur village by the Yamuna River, where they burned and buried the remains. 

While suspects have been detained, the case is being treated as an abduction with intent to murder as police work to recover the body. Search efforts have been hindered by heavy rainfall and rising water levels in the Yamuna River. Recovered evidence includes a scooter, a blanket, and burnt clothing and documents.
