In Mauritania, educational workers and union groups are organizing protests to address systemic issues and representation rights. The Hadiroun collective, which represents 12 union organizations, announced plans for a sit-in at the Ministry of Education and Reform of the Educational System beginning August 31.

Hadiroun alleges that the ministry is excluding less representative unions and has failed to conduct consensual union elections. The group claims the ministry is misinterpreting data regarding union representativeness and is ignoring the legal rights of smaller unions.

Additionally, the Mars Attacks collective met to discuss inequality and debt within the education system. While the group expressed a desire for future demonstrations to protect teaching quality, they indicated that no immediate actions were planned for the following week.
