On 25 July, Hospital 115 in Ho Chi Minh City completed a third kidney transplant for a 57-year-old man from Ca Mau. This procedure marked the first third-time kidney transplant at the hospital and only the second such case recorded in Vietnam.

The surgery involved a kidney donation from the patient’s wife via laparoscopic surgery. Medical teams addressed complex complications, including high HLA antibodies and extensive arterial calcification, through plasma-exchange sessions and the use of anti-thymocyte globulin and strong immunosuppressants. Following the successful implantation, the patient showed improved renal function and was able to resume normal activities.
