Conservation efforts for green sea turtles in the Mediterranean region have focused on both natural nesting cycles and rehabilitation. In Mersin, Turkey, researchers monitored the successful migration of approximately 100,000 hatchlings to the sea, noting that while nesting numbers in certain areas like Davultepe showed fluctuations, these were considered natural cycles.

In a separate initiative, the Meritta Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Center released six green sea turtles back into the Mediterranean. These turtles, aged between 1 and 5 years, had been rescued after becoming entangled in fishing nets. The center reported that since 2018, it has treated 265 turtles, successfully returning 227 of them to their natural habitats.
