In early July 2026 the Lisbon stop of Megadeth’s farewell tour was abruptly cancelled minutes before the 20:50 kickoff at the MEO Arena. Fans, already waiting for half an hour, responded with boos, whistles and objects thrown onto the stage before many left; Marilyn Manson’s set later began at 22:30. Organiser Prime Artists confirmed the cancellation without explanation and directed ticket‑holders to the event website for refund information, linking the disruption to frontman Dave Mustaine’s health issues, including a Dupuytren contracture.

The band’s self‑titled final studio album, released in January 2026, features a cover of Metallica’s “Ride the Lightning.” Mustaine said the rendition pushed his vocal range and split the guitar solo between himself and guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari because he could not recall the original solo. The cover debuted live on 26 April in Bogotá. After wrapping the European leg in Portugal on 5 July, the tour moved to North America, opening in Reno, Nevada on 18 July and includes supporting dates with Iron Maiden across Canada and the United States.

In August, Megadeth announced additional legs: a European circuit with shows in Germany (Munich, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Berlin), the United Kingdom, France and Spain, supported by Black Label Society and Testament; and an Australian leg slated for November, sharing the bill with Iron Maiden in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
