Two drivers in California have filed a class-action lawsuit against Mercedes-Benz, alleging a design defect in certain Mercedes-AMG vehicle seats. The plaintiffs, Gabriel Lahijani and Karendeep ‘Karina’ Bath, claim that raised metallic AMG logos on the seats become excessively hot when exposed to sunlight, causing thermal contact burns to occupants.

Lahijani reported sustaining first- and second-degree burns while using a leased 2026 Mercedes-AMG E-Class, with medical documentation describing the injury as ‘AMG inscribed.’ Bath reported similar burns on her shoulder that resulted in lasting discoloration. 

The lawsuit seeks compensation for medical expenses, pain, suffering, and emotional distress. The plaintiffs are also requesting that Mercedes-Benz cover the costs for other owners to have the metallic logos removed from their vehicles.
