Authorities in Laos seized 521kg of methamphetamine from a private Learjet at Luang Prabang International Airport on October 1. The aircraft had departed from Subang Airport in Malaysia, though investigations suggest the narcotics were destined for the Manila market in the Philippines.

Thirteen individuals were detained in Laos, including a Singaporean pilot, a Malaysian co-pilot, and a Filipino passenger. Malaysian authorities also detained four individuals, including a 49-year-old Malaysian pilot and aircraft owner. The Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) has launched an internal probe into security screenings at Subang Airport, while the Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department leads the ongoing investigation into the smuggling attempt.
