Various Mexican government officials and municipal administrations have launched initiatives to provide financial and material support for students ahead of the school year.

In Mexico City, Head of Government Clara Brugada Molina introduced a program providing 1,180 pesos to secondary school students for uniforms and supplies. The administration reported that over 90,000 students participated in the first two weeks, with a projected budget of up to 704 million pesos by 2026 to benefit approximately 700,000 students. Brugada emphasized that these resources aim to prevent economic disparities and alleviate the financial burden on families during September.

In Sonora, Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño announced the distribution of 35,000 free uniform and shoe packages in Cajeme as part of a state-wide investment of nearly two billion pesos. The administration noted that more than 2.2 million packages have been distributed across the state since 2022. In Coahuila, Federal Deputy Jericó Abramo Masso announced the donation of 3,000 school supply kits in Saltillo, emphasizing the use of Mexican-made products.

At the municipal level, the Benito Juárez borough launched the ‘Regreso a Clases BJ 2026’ initiative, investing approximately 2.45 million pesos to distribute 1,431 kits containing 16 essential items to primary and secondary students. Similarly, in Villa de Pozos, Council President Paty Aradillas led a distribution program in the Las Águilas area, supported by the Secretariat of Social and Regional Development (Sedesore), to assist families with academic cycle costs.
