Reports initially indicated a leadership restructuring within the Mexican Football Federation (FMF), with Enrique Nieto expected to replace Ivar Sisniega as the Vice President of National Teams due to internal friction.

Following these reports, FMF Commissioner Mikel Arriola officially appointed Enrique Nieto Junco to the position. In this role, Nieto Junco will manage sports, administrative, and operational aspects of the national teams, including competitions and business units. He will also continue his duties as Deputy General Secretary, maintaining relations with FIFA, Concacaf, and Soccer United Marketing (SUM). Unlike earlier reports suggesting Sisniega’s departure, the official announcement noted that Nieto Junco will report to both Commissioner Arriola and Executive President Ivar Sisniega.
