In late July 2026 the governor of Sinaloa revived the “Ponte al Corriente” program, allowing owners of vehicles model 2022 or older to settle all overdue taxes, fees, fines and interest with a single payment of 6,000 pesos. Around the same time Sonora broadened its “Borrón y Cuenta Nueva” initiative, granting a 100 % discount on vehicle‑tax surcharges accumulated over the previous five years for taxpayers who clear their full debt, with the discount applied automatically during re‑registration and public tax offices remaining open through the end of July.

Later in July, the federal Servicio de Administración Tributaria (SAT) announced a parallel regularisation scheme that extends the discount principle to fines, surcharges and enforcement costs, offering up to 100 % reduction for eligible individuals and companies. Applications must be submitted by 31 October 2026. The SAT also set a 15‑day period for taxpayers flagged for issuing invoices without proper assets or infrastructure to contest the presumption, and warned that inconsistencies in electronic accounting could trigger AI‑driven audits. Mobile‑office operations in Morelos were reinforced to provide on‑site RFC registration, e‑signature issuance and tax‑status certificates.

Since the program’s launch, the SAT reports that 36,185 taxpayers—25,410 individuals and 10,775 companies—have regularised their obligations, generating roughly 5.97 billion pesos in recovered revenue, mainly from income tax (ISR) and value‑added tax (IVA). The scheme offers online tools to check debts, view credits and generate payment slips, and permits the balance to be paid in up to six installments. Applications can be submitted through the SAT portal or in person at SAT offices, with the deadline remaining 31 October 2026.

Together, state and federal initiatives aim to reduce the financial strain of vehicle‑tax arrears and improve compliance through streamlined payment options and enhanced taxpayer support.
