Sources: 25. Developments: 2. The electoral process for Mexico’s 2027 state elections is beginning to take shape across several regions. Elections for governorships, local congresses, and municipal governments are scheduled for June 6, 2027, aligning with federal midterm elections. In states such as Guerrero, Colima, and Nayarit, local electoral institutes have begun formalizing their respective processes. While the federal election process managed by the INE commenced in September 2026, official candidate registration for state positions has not yet occurred as political parties manage internal precampaign schedules. Political activity is increasing as various figures and parties position themselves for the cycle. In Michoacán, the Mayor of Morelia has expressed aspirations to run for governor. In Quintana Roo, calls for unity within the Morena party have been met with warnings of potential departures due to concerns regarding transparency and gender parity. Other regional movements include candidate emergence within the PAN party in Baja California and various leadership campaigns in Yucatán and Sinaloa. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-27: Mexico political landscape shifts ahead of 2027 elections Political actors across Mexico, including figures in Michoacán, Quintana Roo, and Baja California, are actively positioning themselves and their parties for the upcoming 2027 elections. 23 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/morelia-political-figures-advocate-for-morena-expansion ### 2026-10-25: Mexico: 2027 state elections scheduled for June 6 Mexican states Guerrero, Nayarit, and Colima are preparing for the June 6, 2027, elections for governorships and local offices. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/mexico-2027-state-elections-scheduled-for-june-6 --- Cite as: Mexico 2027 state election preparations.
