The federal terrorism trial over the August 11, 2022 “Jueves Negro” attack in Ciudad Juárez resumed on 31 July 2026 at the Federal Criminal Justice Center on the Mexico‑U.S. border. Prosecutors presented three new witnesses—a former municipal police officer, a ballistics expert and a forensic doctor—to reinforce charges against defendants Jorge Antonio C. B. and Juan Carlos V. The indictment alleges that the pair helped set fire to a personnel‑transport truck in the Riberas del Bravo neighbourhood, an act that killed four people and injured three. During testimony, the former officer denied striking or threatening the accused, while the ballistics expert identified dozens of cartridge cases recovered at the scene. Judge Victoria Alejandra Espinoza Alaníz oversaw the proceedings and asked the defence to clarify the defendants’ statements.
