Between January 2025 and August 2026, Mexico received 271,193 repatriated nationals from the United States. Data from the National Institute of Migration (INM) indicates that 171,508 individuals arrived via land, while 99,685 arrived by air. The majority of those returned are Mexican nationals, primarily from states such as Chiapas, Guanajuato, and Veracruz, though approximately 19,000 foreign nationals were also received.

To assist these individuals, the Mexican government utilizes the ‘México Te Abraza’ strategy. This program involves 34 federal agencies and 14 states, providing services such as food rations, community transfers, medical care, and the ‘Tarjeta Bienestar Paisano’ to assist with travel expenses.

In addition to repatriation support, Mexican authorities have expanded services for migrants residing within the United States. For example, state authorities from Morelos have deployed mobile support services in Chicago and New York to help migrants access official documentation, including voter IDs and dual nationality paperwork. To avoid potential immigration raids during community festivities, organizers have transitioned certain celebrations to controlled indoor venues.
