The Mexican federal government and the state of Jalisco announced a joint investment of approximately 25 billion pesos (1.34 billion dollars) to address water supply and quality issues in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area. President Claudia Sheinbaum and Governor Pablo Lemus stated the funds will support projects such as the construction of the Chapala-Guadalajara and Calderón-San Gaspar aqueducts, as well as the expansion and renovation of various water treatment plants. Construction is expected to begin in early 2027.

In other regions, the National Water Commission (Conagua) is modernizing agricultural infrastructure in Oaxaca through a 26.6 million peso investment to support irrigation for 477 hectares of crops. Meanwhile, in Tamaulipas, farmers from Irrigation District 026 have requested the transfer of at least 100 million cubic meters of water from the El Cuchillo Dam to the Marte R. Gómez Dam.
