The Mundial Social 2026 programme, driven by President Claudia Sheinbaum, has continued to install and refurbish community football and futsal facilities across Mexico. After earlier openings in Playa del Carmen, Puerto Morelos, Zacatecas, Puebla, Celaya and the State of Mexico, the rollout in late June added four five‑a‑side fields and five multi‑use courts in Playa del Carmen, two synthetic pitches in Puerto Morelos, and synthetic fields with lighting in Zacatecas’s Benito Juárez and Guadalupe units, funded with a 126 million‑peso investment. The same period highlighted paramedic recognitions, a security deployment of over 11 000 officers for World Cup events, and the FutBot MX robotics football tournament involving 53 teams.

In Puebla, the “Mundialitos Interdependencias” football‑7 tournament engaged more than 1,000 public‑sector participants and sports‑promotion activities reached over 3,000 students. Celaya received a new five‑a‑side pitch, while Naucalpan inaugurated its 14th rehabilitated synthetic field together with flood‑control works; Cuautlancingo opened a new five‑a‑side field and Texcoco added the La Y field. On 18 July, León (Guanajuato) and La Joya (Morelos) each received a 3‑million‑peso artificial‑turf 7‑a‑side field with drainage, netting, lighting and solar power.

The programme’s expansion continued in August with the construction of three futsal fields in Manzanillo and the hand‑over of four futsal fields in Ciudad Juárez, further extending the network of safe sports spaces ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
