Michael Goessling, a 58-year-old man from St. Louis, discovered that his biological father is Grammy-winning singer Michael McDonald. The connection was revealed through a 23andMe DNA test conducted by one of McDonald’s other children, which identified Goessling as a half-brother.

Goessling was adopted as an infant by Paul and Kay Goessling. Despite being a lifelong fan of The Doobie Brothers, he was unaware of his biological link to the band’s member until the recent discovery. The biological connection originated nearly 60 years ago when McDonald and Goessling’s mother were both 14 years old and chose to place the child for adoption through Catholic Charities.

Following the DNA match, McDonald and Goessling connected via telephone and have since met in person.
