Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven has drawn attention for his physical performance in the Premier League, specifically recording a top speed of 33.1 km/h following a match against Everton. This performance placed him seventh in the club’s speed rankings for the 2026/2027 season.

Liverpool has reportedly considered the 25-year-old Dutch international as a long-term successor to Virgil van Dijk. However, Tottenham has indicated it has no intention of selling the defender, who is under contract until 2031. While transfer speculation has suggested fees between £80m and £90m, the club remains focused on building its future around Van de Ven.

Following his appointment as club captain, Tottenham legend Ledley King praised manager Roberto De Zerbi’s decision, noting that Van de Ven ‘leads by example’. King advised the new captain to become more vocal and focus on managing the group to maximize teammate performance.

Regarding fitness, Van de Ven has dealt with minor setbacks. After recovering from a non-serious injury sustained during an international break, he recently sustained a wrist injury during a UEFA Nations League match against Serbia. Despite the contact with striker Luka Jovic, reports indicate the injury is not serious, and he may be available for Tottenham’s upcoming fixture against Manchester United.
