Microsoft addressed a technical defect in Windows 11 that caused mouse input issues during gameplay. Users reported experiencing stuttering, lagging, and irregular camera movements, which frequently led to the mistaken belief that the problems were caused by hardware failures or driver issues.

In the October cumulative security update, identified as KB5127648, Microsoft officially acknowledged the defect, stating, “This update fixes a problem that could cause stuttering in mouse input in some games.” While the company did not provide an exhaustive list of affected software, users had previously identified issues in titles including “Star Wars: The Old Republic,” “Final Fantasy XIV,” and “Tom Clancy’s The Division 2.” The fix was distributed via the standard Windows Update function.
