His management agency, Grape Company, confirmed that Date is currently hospitalized for treatment and rehabilitation, noting that a rapid medical response prevented more serious complications.

His comedy partner, Takeshi Tomizawa, has provided updates via radio and blog posts. While Date has been physically active, Tomizawa noted in a December 5 radio broadcast that Date’s speech can still be “somewhat difficult to understand.” Date is reportedly undergoing rehabilitation, which includes practicing tongue twisters and writing to improve his condition.
