On November 4, 2026, an Indonesian Army Mi-17V5 helicopter, registration HA-5235, crashed in the waters near Seruyan Regency, Central Kalimantan. The aircraft was engaged in a water bombing mission to combat forest and land fires near Tanjung Puting National Park. The helicopter reportedly encountered difficulties after taking off from Kuala Pembuang. Preliminary findings suggest the aircraft may have struck power lines obscured by heavy smoke, causing it to plunge into the water. Of the eight personnel on board, one death was confirmed and five survivors were hospitalized in Kuala Pembuang. Search and rescue operations were conducted by the Ministry of Forestry and the Army to locate the remaining two crew members.
