Young started just after 11:30 from Breuil‑Cervinia, reached the 4,478‑metre summit in about 3 hours 22 minutes, and descended in under two hours despite limited water and carbohydrates. She reported near‑ideal mountain conditions and noted that the technical sections required precise alpine skill and decision‑making. The effort coincided with a men’s‑record attempt on the same day, when Nadir Maguet was also on the summit.

The new time establishes the fastest known women's round‑trip on the Matterhorn, while the absolute men’s record (2 hours 52 minutes 02 seconds) remains unchanged.
