The Milwaukee Brewers and St. Louis Cardinals engaged in a series of matchups in late September 2026. On September 25, the Brewers secured their 102nd win of the season, the highest in Major League Baseball, with a 3-2 victory over the Cardinals. The game featured Christian Yelich’s first appearance as the team’s captain and a decisive two-run home run by Brice Turang.

Two days later, the Brewers defeated the Cardinals again, this time with a score of 6-4. Following the series, the Cardinals’ baseball operations leadership addressed the team’s performance and roster depth. Despite a 9-15 record in September, president of baseball operations Chaim Bloom highlighted the growth of catcher Ivan Herrera. However, the emergence of minor league Gold Glove winner Leonardo Bernal and other catching prospects has created uncertainty regarding Herrera’s future role within the organization.
