Mining companies in Peru have secured new environmental permits to expand or initiate exploration activities.

Coppernico Metals Inc. received approval for a semi-detailed environmental impact assessment to expand its Sombrero project. This expansion increases the permitted drilling area from 904 hectares to approximately 3,122 hectares and raises the number of authorized drilling platforms from 38 to 181. The company is currently seeking final authorization from the Peruvian Ministry of Energy and Mines to begin drilling.

Separately, Colt Silver Corp. obtained an Environmental Technical File from the Ministry of Energy and Mines for the Galena Silver Copper project in Puno. This 8,200-hectare project, which has not been previously drilled, allows for the construction of up to 20 drilling platforms. The company intends to launch a 2,500-meter drilling campaign in October 2026 to target specific zones.
