On October 3, 2026, the Minnesota Golden Gophers defeated the Michigan Wolverines 20-14 at Huntington Bank Stadium, reclaiming the Little Brown Jug. This victory marks Minnesota’s first win in the 134-year-old rivalry series since 2014 and their first time hoisting the trophy on their home field in 49 years.

Minnesota’s defense was a decisive factor, overwhelming Michigan quarterback Bryce Underwood, who completed 10 of 21 passes for 101 yards and threw two interceptions. Although Michigan briefly held a 14-7 lead in the first half following a 79-yard interception touchdown by Nathaniel Staehling, the Wolverines' offense struggled with consistency. Despite a rushing touchdown by Jordan Marshall, Michigan could not overcome the defensive pressure, which limited the Wolverines to just 180 total yards of offense. Minnesota quarterback Drake Lindsey secured the win with a fourth-quarter touchdown pass to Darius Taylor, who finished the game with two touchdowns.

Following the contest, Minnesota improved to a 4-1 record (2-0 in Big Ten), while Michigan fell to 3-2 (0-2 in Big Ten). Michigan head coach Kyle Whittingham noted the team's need to analyze their ineffective offensive performance during the upcoming bye week.
