The Minnesota Vikings have extended their undefeated start to 4-0, continuing to rely on a dominant defense to compensate for offensive struggles. While the offense has failed to score a touchdown in half of its games, the defensive unit led by coordinator Brian Flores has recorded 16 sacks through the first four weeks.

The defense’s unpredictable, blitz-heavy schemes have drawn attention from opponents, including Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams. To bolster a secondary currently led by Harrison Smith and Josh Metellus, speculation has emerged regarding a potential trade for veteran safety Minkah Fitzpatrick from the New York Jets.

Amidst this success, Flores recently faced his former team, the Miami Dolphins. The matchup held personal weight as Flores continues his legal battle against the NFL over allegations of racially discriminatory hiring practices following his dismissal from Miami. Flores maintained that his focus remained on team preparation.

Despite the defensive dominance, the team’s early season has been characterized by significant yardage deficits and an unreliable offense, even as the Vikings remain a top-10 team in national power rankings.
