Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) issued a challenge to New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) star Ryohei Oiwa for the AEW championship. In a pre-recorded video message, MJF criticized NJPW as a ‘second-rate’ promotion and expressed a desire to ‘close the Forbidden Door’ by defeating its talent.

MJF proposed a match against Oiwa with his ‘Triple B’ championship on the line, asserting his status as the ‘one true champion’ of AEW. The challenge follows social media tensions between the two wrestlers after Oiwa’s G1 Climax victory.
