Málaga CF is attempting to address its competitive struggles through both structural and tactical adjustments. To support long-term stability, the club is implementing improvements within its youth academy, La Academia. Manager Carlos Dávila and director Loren Juarros are expanding the academy’s structure by hiring additional personnel and creating new departments focused on methodology and individual player improvement.

On the pitch, new signing Fernando Calero has defended the squad’s quality despite a difficult start to the season, expressing confidence in the team’s ability to achieve league permanence. However, the club continues to face significant personnel challenges. Injury concerns remain a persistent issue for manager Juanfran Funes. In addition to previous absences, the squad has managed injuries to Pablo Martínez, Joaquín Muñoz, Juan Cruz, Aarón Ochoa, and Julen Lobete.

As the season progresses, Málaga CF has struggled with scoring efficiency despite maintaining offensive pressure through set pieces. Manager Funes has emphasized the need for tactical consistency to secure the team’s first victory following a ten-match winless streak.

The club is now preparing for its Copa del Rey campaign against Sporting del Alcázar. This fixture carries historical weight, as Málaga has been eliminated by lower-division opponents thirteen times in the 21st century. Funes may use the match to provide rhythm to players like Larrubia and Chupe or to start Jens Cajuste. This cup fixture precedes a scheduled match against Real Betis Balompié.
