The 2026-27 Major League Baseball free agency market is beginning to take shape as the regular season concludes. Early analysis identifies Luis Arraez as a primary headliner for the second base market following a period of high offensive production and improved defensive capabilities. In the pitching market, Tarik Skubal is expected to be a major figure. Other notable names include Freddy Peralta, Brandon Lowe, and Sonny Gray. Reports indicate the New York Yankees may be interested in Arraez to improve their batting average, while Gray, who has tied for the most wins in the league, may seek a contract valued around three years and $75 million. As the offseason approaches, focus is shifting toward the bullpen and left-handed relief targets. For the Boston Red Sox, adding offensive depth is a primary goal, while veteran pitching remains a secondary priority. Potential targets include New York Yankees left-hander Ryan Yarbrough, who recorded a 3.69 ERA in 63.1 innings during the 2026 season. In the broader relief market, Adrian Morejon has been identified as a premier non-closing reliever. The Cuban-born pitcher enters free agency following a season with a 2.83 ERA and a 99 mph average fastball. Although Morejon has maintained health for the last three seasons despite previous Tommy John surgery, a recent shoulder issue has raised questions regarding his immediate availability. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-08: MLB free agency focuses on bullpen and left-handed relief targets MLB's upcoming free agency market highlights potential bullpen moves, including interest in Yankees lefty Ryan Yarbrough and the emergence of elite reliever Adrian Morejon. 6 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/mlb-free-agency-focuses-on-bullpen-and-left-handed-relief-targets ### 2026-09-25: MLB free agency outlook highlights key player rumors As the MLB season ends, focus shifts to the 2026-27 free agency market, with rumors linking Luis Arraez to the Yankees and Sonny Gray to a potential contract extension with the Red Sox. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/mlb-free-agency-outlook-highlights-key-player-rumors ### 2026-09-23: MLB free agency preview highlights Arraez and Skubal A preview of the 2026-27 MLB free agent market highlights Luis Arraez as a top second base option and Tarik Skubal as the premier pitcher heading into the offseason. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/mlb-free-agency-preview-highlights-arraez-and-skubal --- Cite as: MLB free agency market outlook.
