Running from September 19, 2026, through January 10, 2027, the showcase features over 120 works tracing the evolution of European painting from the 19th to the 20th century. Organized by the Fondazione Ferrara Arte in collaboration with the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam, the exhibition includes masterpieces by artists such as Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, Piet Mondrian, Wassily Kandinsky, and Pablo Picasso. The collection is composed of loans from the Rotterdam museum alongside works from various Italian public and private collections. Curated by Sandra Kisters and Vasilij Gusella, the exhibition explores the transition from direct natural observation to the dissolution of reality through abstraction. The event includes a multisensory experience titled ‘From lived nature to the interior landscape,’ which incorporates sound and scent to engage visitors. Vittorio Sgarbi has described the event as an ‘international undertaking’ that highlights Ferrara’s capacity to compete with major European museums. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-18: Palazzo dei Diamanti hosts major modern art exhibition Palazzo dei Diamanti hosts a major exhibition of over 120 modern masterpieces from the Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, featuring artists like Monet and Van Gogh in a multisensory journey. 6 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/palazzo-dei-diamanti-hosts-major-modern-art-exhibition ### 2026-09-17: Palazzo dei Diamanti hosts major modern art exhibition in Ferrara A major art exhibition featuring 120 works from Monet to Kandinsky has opened at Palazzo dei Diamanti in Ferrara, exploring the evolution of modern painting and nature. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/palazzo-dei-diamanti-hosts-major-modern-art-exhibition-in-ferrara --- Cite as: Modern art exhibition at Palazzo dei Diamanti.
