Major South Korean construction firms are competing for large-scale reconstruction projects in the Mokdong area of Seoul. 

Daewoo E&C has partnered with the Denmark-based Urban Agency to develop the ‘Infinite Prism’ exterior design for the Mokdong Complex 8 reconstruction. This collaboration includes international specialists such as the UK-based ARUP for structural design and the New York-based Supermass Studio for landscaping.

In a separate bid, Samsung C&T has announced a partnership with the US-based architectural firm SMDP for the Mokdong Complex 13 reconstruction project. This specific development aims to replace 2,280 units with 3,852 new units in buildings up to 49 stories high, with an estimated cost of approximately 2.3763 trillion KRW. 

The broader Mokdong reconstruction initiative involves 14 complexes and is expected to create a residential hub of roughly 47,000 units, with a total estimated value of 30 trillion KRW.
