MOL Group has commissioned a solar park and battery energy storage system at its Algyő site in Hungary. The project features a solar facility with a capacity of 37.4 MWp and a battery storage system providing 20 MW of nominal power and 40 MWh of storage capacity.

The investment, valued at approximately 21.5 billion HUF (€59.4 million), received support through Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade subsidies and EU funding via the Recovery and Resilience Facility. The project is intended to increase energy independence for the Algyő operations, manage fluctuations in renewable production, and reduce CO2 emissions by an estimated 13,000 tons annually.

This development is part of MOL’s ‘SHAPE TOMORROW’ strategy. The company currently operates nine solar parks in Hungary with a total capacity of approximately 405 MW and has set a goal to reach 500 MWh of storage capacity by 2030.
