Moldova is expanding its national healthcare infrastructure to improve cancer treatment and screening accessibility.

In August 2026, the Ministry of Health and the National Institute of Oncology expanded chemotherapy services to regional hospitals in Anenii Noi and Soroca. This initiative follows a successful pilot phase in six other districts and aims to reduce the physical and financial burdens on patients by allowing treatment closer to home.

Additionally, the country has established a national network of 12 colposcopy offices to support cervical cancer screening. This network, which includes nine regional offices and three in Chișinău, utilizes modern technology procured by UNFPA with support from the UK Government. These facilities are digitally integrated with the National Reference Center for Colposcopy and the Institute of Mother and Child to ensure coordinated care.
