The Republic of Moldova has moved to formalize the use of unmanned aerial vehicles, beginning with the official publication of new drone operation regulations in the Official Gazette.

Following these regulatory developments, the Ministry of Internal Affairs inaugurated a drone training laboratory at the ‘Ștefan cel Mare’ Academy. Supported by the GS Foundation and funding from the German Federal Foreign Office, the facility features 18 workstations designed to train specialists in surveillance and monitoring.

The laboratory aims to prepare personnel for missions such as searching for missing persons, assessing emergency situations, and obtaining imagery from hard-to-reach areas to assist field teams. Training is set to commence in November, utilizing instructors who previously underwent training in Berlin.
