Moldova has implemented measures to facilitate the hiring of foreign seasonal agricultural workers, allowing foreign citizens to work for up to nine months within a twelve-month period via individual contracts and temporary-stay permits.

Recent data from the National Employment Agency (ANOFM) indicates that 15,083 individuals have found employment since the start of 2026. The service sector led placements at 34.2%, followed by agriculture at 17.5% and wholesale and retail trade at 14.4%. Demographic trends show that 42.1% of those employed are women and 18.3% are aged 55 and older.

As of mid-August 2026, ANOFM reported over 12,000 job vacancies nationwide. The vast majority of these positions, approximately 93%, are located in urban areas, while 7% are in rural regions. Vacancies are distributed across various education levels: 1,892 roles require higher or post-secondary education (such as engineers, doctors, and managers), 5,627 roles require technical secondary education (including electricians and drivers), and 4,498 positions are for individuals with primary or middle school education (such as security guards and cleaners).

Cities with high vacancy concentrations include Chișinău, Bălți, Strășeni, Ungheni, Briceni, and Edineț. ANOFM director Raisa Dogaru noted that employment services provided by the agency remain free for both the unemployed and those seeking to change jobs.
