An explosion occurred in a four-story residential building in the center of Mongaguá during the early hours of a Wednesday. Two women were rescued from debris on the top floor and transported to the Mongaguá Central Emergency Room for treatment.

The municipal Civil Defense has cordoned off the property pending a technical evaluation by municipal engineers and technical-scientific police to determine structural stability. While initial reports suggest the explosion may have involved a gas cylinder, the exact cause is under investigation, and authorities have not confirmed if a reported dispute between residents contributed to the incident.
