Montenegro’s Ministry of Maritime Affairs reported that maritime safety inspections conducted during the summer tourist season resulted in approximately 530,000 euros in fines through September 1.

Minister Filip Radulović stated that inspectors performed roughly 1,500 maritime controls. The total fine amount represents a significant increase compared to the previous year, when fines totaled approximately 87,000 euros. The most frequent violations included exceeding permitted speeds, which was identified as a “major safety risk.” Other infractions involved improper distances from the coast and swimmers, excessive passenger numbers on vessels, and vessel registration irregularities. Radulović emphasized that the increased inspections aim to improve maritime safety and ensure regulatory compliance.
