Montreal Canadiens forward Cole Caufield has transitioned from discussing team readiness and his digital likeness in the NHL 27 video game to addressing future contract negotiations. While Caufield previously accepted terms to assist with the team’s salary cap flexibility during a rebuilding phase, he indicated an expectation for more full compensation in future deals.

As the 2026-27 season began, the team faced a slow start with a 1-2-1 record. During this period, Zachary Bolduc emerged as a consistent contributor, recording three goals through the first four games following a recent four-year extension.
